Pet Boarding in the Tampa area (vet, kennels, keep, Tampa Bay)

I am in need of some recommendations on where to board my dog for a week. We live in Odessa but I am willing to take him anywhere in the Tampa Bay area if it is a great place for him to stay. I feel terrible boarding him but the people that usually keep him are going out of town the same week we are! Thanks for any recommendations or even advice on where NOT to take him!

You'll want to visit Pet Care Services Association (http://www.petcareservices.org/ - broken link) and then go into "Find a Pet Care Facility". This organization only lists kennels that are a a part of the organization and must meet certain criteria.

Visit any kennel in advance and take a tour so you know what your dog's accomodations will be. Good luck!

Or call your vet and ask if anyone does pet sitting. Most vet techs do - they come before work, on their lunch time, and after work. I like having my dogs in my house, no exposure to other dogs/illness.
