My mistake but I picked Storm up some high protein dog food (same brand and all) but it seems to be causing some stinky farts. Do you think this is going to ease after a bit or what. I have a fourty pound bag and I hate to throw it since it is decent stuff but....
I wouldn't have thought it's down to the protein level per se - rather, it's being caused by an ingredient(s)/quantity of a certain ingredient that's in this version but not in the other. His gut might adjust with time, or it might not (depends on the "why" of it all). You could try adding a good probiotic and see if that helps.

High protien typically is only for hard working dogs to my understanding. I can give meat to my border collie but changing his normal food for another will get me a payback of farts and more.
Every time I change our pets' food, cats & dogs, they have a digestive transition, in the form of undesirable effects. It goes away (or am I just getting used to it?). Nah, sometimes it's awful, but it goes away.
I don't know if the gas is related to the high protein or just the change in diet. However, I would imagine if it was just the change in diet that it should subside within a couple of weeks. If it is the protein content, then it'll probably continue to be an issue. If you have no problems donating it try calling your vet and see if they'll take it, or your local animal shelter.
Is there a large amount of oils in the food? That can cause problems such as that.
