That's a question I've never remembered to ask of the right person. So salmonella is pathogenic to pets? I've had it myself. Ewwwwwwwwww. Nasty stuff!

Salmonella is pathogenic to ALL animals at some time or another. A lot depends on the species. One species is responsible for typhoid fever, but there are many, many species of Salmonella.

Raw eggs are not good even IF they have no toxins. Raw eggs depribe [if thats the right word lol] the Body of BIOTIN an important Vitamin that dogs Dont produce. ALWAYS Cook the egg you feed! But If you drop 1 once in awhile it wont hurt if they help clean up lol

Actually only the white does that The yolk is really good.

Salmonella is an issue in humans more then anything else because we are herbivores much much more so then our pet cats/dogs. Cats especially have adapted to meat eating as a way of life there technically is no other mammal that needs it more ... saying a cat can get salmonella is like saying a horse can be allergic to grass... It IS possible I have actually heard of a horse on animal planet that had this problem but very rarely.

If cat has FIV/ or AIDS however then yes.... but most normal healthy cats Salmonella is not an issue. Because their bodies have a short digestive tract, their stomach acid is 3 times more powerful then a humans and there is a element to their spit that is a natural Disinfectent.

Dogs are not much more different, they can handle variety better but its still way more carnivorous then Homo sapiens.
