I have a 6 1/2 year old pug who is very well behaved and a really good dog.

She was crate trained and she had about 3 accidents as a pup. Over the age of 5 months or so she has never gone in our house. But she has done a little pee on 2 separate occasions at other people's houses. Once was about 4 years ago and once was last night. Our neighbors had a party and our dog was invited also. She went inside and, thankfully, on an small runner she did a little piddle. I know they used to have dogs in the house who had accidents so maybe that's what she smelled but still

How do I un train her to not do what I think is her natural instinct? Or do I just leave her home, lol?

I dunno but we are caring for one who is more territorial than a male. She marks every mail box up and down the street. She is only about a year and a half old. She has a boy friend down the street and loves to leave a calling card at his house.

I adopted an older girl this year who does the same thing. She wasn't well trained by the people she was removed from, but each dog I've adopted has been tempted to mark the first couple of days in their new home.
My girl dog actually contorts herself to pee right over the same spots as the boys, which is quite a sight!
If a dog does this when visiting, all I can suggest is to make sure she goes outside before coming into the house, and maybe keep her on a leash at first when visiting in the house. She can mark outside that way (although amazing how they always find a little bit more!)
Oh, and my girl did this when unspayed (a surprise for me...) and after spaying. She just wants to pee where someone else does.

Got me. My girl is spayed. My DH and I have moved many times with her and even lived and traveled in our motorhome. She has never done this in our homes, motorhome, or even on boats. She is well rounded, lol.

Like I said she has had 2 little accidents inside of 2 houses where the people had animals who peed inside. She was also taken for a walk and did her business right before we went over so I know she didn't have to go.

I am talking about a dog who held it once for 2 days through a hurricane because she wouldn't go out. I finally had to throw her on the front lawn and she was not a happy camper.

Anyway, I am stumped.

I agree - it might well be a UTI! A vet visit is in order!

No it's not medical. She went for a last check up in September.

As a matter of fact the "princess" is now sitting outside on the pool deck with no grass in sight. She is lounging and hasn't peed since last night and it is now 11:45. She will let me know when she has to go.

This is just an isolated incident that has happened twice in 6 1/2 years and only inside of someone else's house where they have had dogs that peed inside. That's why I think it is some type of instinctive problem.

You don't know it's not medical. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) happen at the drop of a hat and the ONLY sign that something is wrong is that there's inappropriate micturition (the REAL word for urination). A vet check in September is not helpful if the UTI is there NOW. An untreated UTI can be EXTREMELY dangerous. Even fatal.

I agree! Plus, the fact that she does hold it for so long is not healthy. Damaging to the kidneys. I wonder if it is not all related.

Thanks guys. I'll give her some antibiotics just to be on the safe side. She also hasn't peed inside since the incident. Maybe I should take her back next door just to see if she does it again, lol.

She has had UTI's before and both of those times she got them at campgrounds. Even then she never peed inside. There are no similar symptoms. That's why I really think it is more of a marking problem but I could be wrong.
