When we first got my german shepherd, he got car sick every time we had him with us. But, after he grew older, he's outgrown it all together.
My mix, however, never, ever got sick, and yes, both are very seasoned road worriors as well by now.
(Let's see...PA to FL, FL to PA, PA to NC, NC to PA, PA to TN, and in a couple of days TN back to PA.....LOL.....

We bought an SUV because we had outgrown my VW Jetta in no time...lol.
I fold the seats down in the back, they have plenty of roam back there to stretch out and sleep. We still keep with their original feeding schedule, and have water available at all times though!!! We usually stop at rest stops/ gas stations, and let them pee like every 2 to 3 hours or so, or if they make it known that they have to go.
If you google the search phrase pet friendly hotels be prepared that plenty of them will pop up (I think that is so awesome!!! LOL)
However, some of them do have size restrictions........
Which is still ok, since there are plenty of non-restrictive ones to choose from...
