It used to be that being in 'the doghouse' meant you were in some serious trouble, well not any more.

A dog owner in the US has gone to incredible lengths to make sure her pooches live a life of luxury.

If I had a ridiculous amount of money burning a hole in my pocket...I would make better use out of it than building a 5 star dog house

You couldn't convince my dog to stay there. He will wake from a deep sleep to follow me to the bathroom, even in the middle of the night. He'd take my company over some expensive dog house any day!

Well I'm glad she didn't fritter it away on something silly like donating money to the American Cancer Society or March of Dimes or some such.

This lady should be smacked back into next week. How mindlessly disgusting.

And while this is an extreme example, I shudder to think how many people there are like her - I'm not talking about buying dogs a few treats, but spending absurd amounts of money to pamper them in such idiotic and frivilous ways.

I saw this story on TV. The dogs' house is a replica of the woman's own house. It was truly a sickening display of wealth that she tried to pass off as a display of love for her dogs. As if her dogs understand what they've been given? All they want is her love and attention (and some treats and toys) -- not a freakin' plasma TV in their own house. Ridiculous.

Yeh, my dog wouldn't want it either. He would rather see the money donated.

While my dog would never live in something like that because she has to be near her family, it's her money and she can use it any way that she likes. If building this replica makes her and her pets happy, that is really all that matters. She has no responsibility to donate to any charity.

You're right. If she wants to be a brain-dead disgusting irresponsible loony bird, she has that right. Unfortunately.

LOL-and people think I am nuts cause' I keep saying that I am going to buy a house for my dog!
Well, this lady may have the right to spend her money anyway she wishes but I'd never do that. All dogs need is a comfortable place to sleep, food, toys, exercise and tons of love. Some may want a huge yard to roam but that is all. I know mine would never want to be separate from us at night, not even for a flat screen TV.
