I grew up in Duluth and I can say if we moved back up there, we wouldn't live in Duluth because of the schools. That being said, not sure who the developer is, but there is an area called Jackson Estates just down the road from the schools and I think their new addition should be starting soon. It's a great area, the lots aren't as big as you'd like unfortunately, but it's a great little neighborhood.

Good luck!!

Default Deerfield townhomes

We'll be renting at the Deerfield town home complex for a year. Any feedback about the quality or advice would be greatly appreciated. We'll have a one car garage. Will the second car be OK on the coldest nights?

Thanks!

What's wrong with the schools? I just graduated from East in '07, and I loved it there. As far as public schools go...between East, Denfeld, and Central, I gotta say East is academically the best, as well as in sports. There's also some private schools, notably Marshall.

Anyways, like others said, you'll have no problem building something grand in Hermantown for 600k. And Hermantown just borders Duluth, that it doesn't even feel like a different "town". I mean, I technically work in Hermantown, but it doesn't even feel any different than Duluth, except a tiny bit more "far off".

You'll notice most of the "bigger" businesses are in Hermantown. Walmart, Menards, Northern, Golf dome, etc. Lots of "yard" businesses, and construction type places. So, if you want to be close to that, then Hermantown is right. So is Duluth. Really, if you want to be in the area, either place will suit you just fine!

Well, it really depends what kind of car you have. On the COLDEST nights...haha....you don't want your car outside. In the morning, you'll have 1.) to wake up early and start the car and keep it running for a while, or 2.) you won't be able to start the car at all. You don't know HOW MANY times I've heard that at any of the places I've worked. "I can't make it because my car wouldn't start. A heated garage is pretty essential for up here, I'd say.

You've got years ahead of you before you'll understand that statement - and maybe you never will. It's nothing to do with loving or hating the school. I loved being in my high school too.
