For those of you that do not know, the HR dpt is NOT YOUR FREIND!!!
they are there to protect the company from lawsuits. If you think you have a valid grievance, go to them, but know they will keep a file on you and watch you there after.
I have a friend that works in HR, and its crazy how unethical they can be.
I think that is a real generalization. I have had first hand experience with many HR Depts and I would not say that they are unethical. Perhaps your friend has had a bad experience and perhaps it is a reflection of the company itself.
HR is a management tool that is used to promote management's agenda. Sometimes HR can be very helpful, other times it can be your worst enemy. But one of their primary responsibilities is to enforce government employment laws as well as to protect the company against lawsuits, which frequently means stepping on people. They also screen and hire applicants, and compile information used to terminate employees.
I have to say that I completely disagree with you. There was a day, where I felt something like that for HR.. but not the complete hatred that you do.
I now work in HR and understand why things may seem that way. We are not out to get to employee and only have the companies side.. its NOTHING like that. We are here to see both sides of an issue and figure out the right answer. Of course employees think everything is against them, etc... but NOT true.
But there are also employees out there that like to cheat the company... anything to "screw the system"
Never said there wasn't. My point is that there are good and bad HR people, just like there is good and bad people in every other position.
