When the government creates an ever expanding dependent class of citizens in capitalist countries, the numbers will get skewed.

Is it me or the title is misleading? Blaming capitalism for inequality is like blaming the hammer for bashing someone's skull. The blame is solely on the hands that wield the hammer. If our economic system is failing, its because we failed to implement and maintain it properly.

There will always be winners and losers in this system but it's done more to lift people out of poverty than any social program ever could. Look how much money we've spent on "the war on poverty" in the last half century... How has that worked out

Huh?

60% of seniors are no longer living in poverty because of Social Security.

We have a corporatocracy, not capitalism.

To succeed under a capitalist economy, people have to be willing to work hard, and to improve themselves in order to compete with the rest of the population for a better financial situation. It's not a system that rewards the lazy or incompetent.

Define the term "Capitalism".

Could you explain how that makes some people very wealthy?

I don't believe the point was that it makes some people wealthy (although it does a few, of course), but that it makes many people poor (by relying on government aid rather than working).

The problem with inequality isn't the wealthy, it's the poor. And it's not the wealthy that are creating the poor. They create wealth and some of it spills into the hands of many. It's not as though we have a finite amount of wealth to spread around and the wealthy are grabbing it away from the poor, although that seems to be the belief of some.

NO economic model, in its current form is successful. Stop attacking capitalism and instead attack the fact that corporate monopolies are controlling the government with puppet strings. Capitalism allows you to act upon a great idea that you might have, you have no idea how precious that freedom is until youve lived without it. Marx was an absolute IDIOT because he saw that something wasnt working, and his answer was to get rid of it. Thats the stupidest, most childish response to a problem that anyone could have done. If your child is crying late at night do you throw it out the window? No. Capitalism, just like every other economic model, is susceptible to corruption. The key is to just keep tabs on it and take responsibility as an American to keep your government in check.

The end.
