Whether its $194 or $200...do you care? Do you care how they spend it? It's so little, and it's for food. Most of these people have children...and even if they didn't it's food for a person who doesn't have money.
My cooking is terrible. Just last night I tried to cook dinner for my daughter, and she dutifully tried to eat it, and after sliding it around for awhile finally asked if she could make some instant noodles. I've got commercial grade kitchen equipment, a walk in pantry and any cooking appliance my wife has ever thought looked interesting for 5 minutes. I still can't cook well.
There's nothing that says growing up poor means you know how to cook. It may be cheaper to bake your own bread....if you have an oven. If you have a place where you can store food. If you're not in a halfway house or shelter where others will steal from you.
How many people did we feed "luxuries" last year? How much did we spend entreating foreign dignitaries? How much did we spend on F-35 JST Fighters? How much did we spend incarcerating people or caring for foster children?
Keep that family going. It's a bargain if you can for $200 a week.
