Not true. I'm poor and I can't invest in real estate. My only option is equities and prayer.

I'm deep in poverty but I have 6 figures in funds, your theory runs into a wall.

The cause of America's economic decline is simple - government.
Well, to be more accurate, socialist government. . . the kind that TAKES from one to GIVE to another.
Thanks to the socialist tax and bribe system, so many live off the worker's wages, that the worker can't live off them anymore.
The remedy is not more socialism, obviously.
But no politician will dare suggest abolishing it, despite 82 years of it grinding away America's industrial and manufacturing base.
In a few more years, it won't matter - the USA will be kaput, knocked off by NORKOR or some other pipsqueak.

P.S. - if you think your investments or retirement funds will tide you over, guess what...

https://www.federalreserve.gov/faqs/currency_12773.htm
Q: How much U.S. currency is in circulation?
A: There was approximately $1.56 trillion in circulation as of July 12, 2017, of which $1.52 trillion was in Federal Reserve notes.

U.S. Population (2017) : 326,474,013
>>> $4,655 per capita <<<

When the "music" stops, the odds of "cashing out" are not good.

...which is irrelevant to what I said.

What I said was that 1/2 of Americans don't even pay taxes so there's no way those people are worried about their portfolio of investments of any kind.

Also, if you have 6 figures of liquidity you can absolutely invest in real estate, just not in your market. You could buy an entire block in Detroit for $100k.

It's fiat currency anyhow. It's only as good as the puppet masters at the top say it is anyway. BUT... I'm willing to take my chances at the moment.

I've gotten more the impression of a left coaster who has plenty of money to live anywhere but there, but won't move...
