Every developed country (except for a few oil monarchies) is capitalist, socialist, and democratic. There is a reason why that is the case. Pure capitalism is an abysmal failure where development is concerned. It's only "good" for pillaging the resources of a poor country.

I am laughing at so many of the posts here. There is no such thing as income inequality as long as we have opportunity equality and we do. There are no laws that prevent any individual this country from using initiative and hard work to get whatever that person wants.

Yay, America. Good thing there's jobs for all those people with initiative.

there's initiative, but no elbow grease, they want to the initiative to start out at the top of the ladder instead of working their way up

somehow to a lot of college grads that whine about how bad the economy is, the idea that the degree isn't a shortcut never makes into their heads

Bingo!

Someone earlier said capitalism does not work. It is actually the perfect system. if you have a product or a skill that is in high demand, then you will get paid proportionately to that skill or demand. If you have nothing to offer or nothing that that makes you more employable than the next guy, then you have nobody to blame but yourself for your income or employment situation.

There is a reason why brain surgeons get paid a crap load of money. People who need brain surgery HAVE to pay you AND there are a handful of people who are skilled enough to do this. Oh and if you happen to be one of the BETTER brain surgeons, then you will get paid more than the other brain surgeons.

There are plenty of jobs for people with initiative. Like the other guy said, you have to start at the bottom and use that initiative to work your way up. OR.. maybe start your own business and then you dont need to worry about who will hire you.

I have rented apartments multiple times to Chinese immigrant families, each time the parents held Minimum-Wage jobs while supporting 2 to 4 children, and in each case those families prospered. [were able to buy a restaurant / home within 2 years].

It is very inspiring to watch these people living the 'American dream'.

Improve education
Have laws that let our business grow. No reason to solve tomorrow's problems if you skip over todays.
