Clearly that needs to happen. The article speaks to that as an issue. It also says:

Quote:
Clemens emphasized that even immigrants without “high skills” can still contribute to the U.S. economy.

“What the U.S. economy needs [is] workers that are better matched to employer demand,” Clemens said. “That is not at all just workers with lots of education. The economy is driven by workers with lots of education. It is also driven by fundamental workers who do essential tasks that don’t require a lot of education. Silicon Valley certainly runs on software engineers, but it also runs on child care workers, janitors, security workers, farm workers, construction workers, delivery and warehousing workers, without which none of their businesses would be viable.”

Exactly. I guestimate that the US will need, in round numbers, 150,000,000 (one hundred fifty million) immigrants over the next 30 years or so.

There is no question of immigration.

It is a question of 1) legality, 2) the pace, 3) the quality.

But first things first: legality.

If government does not operate in the name of legality it is mafia, not government.

That's what too much of our current immigration is.

No happy ending to that.

Even in places like Brazil, Mexico, and Iran, the birth rate now struggles to hit replacement rate. Easy access to contraception helps- it's dead common for a married Mexican woman to have a tubal in the same hospital stay where she delivers baby #2, and contraception is also cheap and convenient for married couples in Iran.

The only regions left where childbirth rates are above replacement rates are sub-Saharan Africa and the South Pacific. (And the South Pacific regional population is small enough it's effectively a rounding area)

So if you're a Generation Xer or younger, the person wiping your rear in the nursing home is probably going to be a nice immigrant not from El Salvador but from Ghana or Zimbabwe.
Much harder to get here from Ghana or Zimbabwe compared to El Salvador though. Have to keep logistics in mind also.

We do need them to be here legally. We need a legal pathway to citizenship for people who want to be here and the standard can’t be so ridiculous that only the people you’re talking about can reach it.

Please read the article.
So, in the age of technology the only way to solve the problem is to bring in more people into the country?
With different cultural and religious beliefs, different morals, different traditions?
To be our strawberry pickers, dishwashers, chicken pluckers? They won’t do that having a choice unless it is a condition of their legal status: to have a work visa for 5 years at the chicken plant. But how would you control/ regulate that?
They don’t work those jobs in UK

Not all, but quite a lot of immigrants from South and Central America just quite happy to live on public give aways - as their standards of living are quite lower.
They have no problems sleeping 3-4-5 in one room. Don’t think they will stimulate economy by buying consumer goods and houses - they are happy in subsidized apartments

Why do you think we still have illegals- businesses use them without any rights, thus creating second or third rate class of people
Maybe first step is to reform our welfare system- where able bodied people should be working instead of getting their welfare checks and birthing more abused and impoverished children in an attempt to get more money? The fraud they commit by not marrying?
Only truly disabled should be taken care of.
The people who only have a very superficial understanding of other cultures is pushing immigration agenda without any foresight.
Don’t we still have poverty among ourselves here? Are all our citizens already taken care of?
It will be nothing but heartache.
They say we need more immigrant people, I say they need more people to exploit

The UK Labor party brought more than 4 million immigrants into the country from 2000 to 2011.
Now they say they made a mistake - watch starting at 2 min if you are too busy to watch the whole 4 min video

The Migration Policy Institute is part of the Carnegie Endowment, which is liberal.

Think tanks are hired to produce research that supports a certain political cause, in this case liberal immigration policy. That's all that needs to be said.

Oh sure...we need them to do menial work. Uh-huh.

But much of what's coming here illegally isn't doing any work at all. We taxpayers are supporting them. That's how these agricultural entities can get away paying them next to nothing - welfare is subsidizing their living expenses.

What part of "illegal" do these proponents not understand?? Soros, the UN, and the globalists wish to bring these people into white countries to replace and change the culture. It's all about control. Such attempts never end well. One need only look at the EU countries to see the problems that have resulted, and the future of the USA if we don't wise up to this.

Don't be so quick to be!ieve everything you read.

I am an Open Borders guy.
Let all new immigrants meet the same restrictions that my ancestors did when they got off the boat.
Fair for my ancestors, fair for them.

^The First Nations-Natives' "open borders", didn't work too well, did it?
I plan to keep my butt clean: Only eat clean (cooked where ever possible) foods; Avoid beans and lentils unless thoroughly soaked and washed; continue using Washlet Bidets while saving the trees.
