My understanding of a stock is that you effectively borrow it from your brokerage, with a agreement to return it at a future date. Except now...you cant. Right? I know the textbook answers to some of this, but I dont know the specific agreement details.
What happens to Twitter shortsellers now that the stock is sold? Am I correct in assuming they are going to eat it at the high sale price?

And....how many people shorted Twitter?
Why can't you? It's still a publicly traded company.
And anyway, someone who shorted because Musk finally stopped illegally buying up shares to do the hostile takeover without the SEC filings still had most of the time from April 4th to September 30th to short and get out at a profit. It didn't take Musk long after illegally buying up shares to start trying to tank the deal driving the price down for anyone that shorted to borrow at $50 and cover at around $38. That's a very long time for most people to hold a short position.

Okay, but for those of us who don't live in the future it is. If you actually were in the future I'd of course asking for how the stocks were doing. Hate to break it to you though, you're not. Twitter is publicly traded.

Go ahead and try to buy some this morning and let us know how that works out.

Twitter is a private company right now, there is no stock to buy or sell.

Give me the bid/ask quote or yesterday's closing price on it if it's publicly traded.
