I m a green card holder with different account in non usa bank.
I bet if I ask my bank to get the w9 form, they will tell me they don't know what i m talking about or they will kick me out of the bank. this happened to me last week and I m very upset because these freaking banks are not fatca with irs.
so what I do if I report my bank interest on my tax form and can not provide any w9 form?
A 1099-INT, same as always or whatever their equivalent form is. I imagine most larger banks would send you a 1099 if you asked. Then you just report it on your 1040 B. They'll tell you they don't know what you're talking about because you don't know what you're talking about. The W-9 is the form used to report your social security/taxpayer ID number to various entities (contractors, vendors, whatever).
I bet In thailand they don't know what a w9 is.... or 1099int is...
so what I do? just ask their forms to identify my account even if written in their own language?
a french bank send me a form at the end of they year. it s In french, is that enough? there is my name, number, account, and money I made... can be a substitute for a 1099int?

Many foreign banks have agreements with the US to help manage US tax information. Ask for a form 1099 or their equivalent.
