In some cases - it is a tax issue - depending upon the type of work you do, the entire lease payment may be a tax deduction -
I advise clients to check with their tax advisors before obligating themselves.
Another reason is that typically the monthly payment is lower than a purchase finance - and when the lease is over, they walk away.
Many people have lease cars because of the tax deduction and that can be smart...but the other people like a person I know who leases an expensive mercedes because it would look good when taken clients to show a house (in a declining market....), aren't there other cars that are representive and not using the premium gas that car uses, according to this person...and having bad credit or almost no credit....and paying top price for a car like that....how stupid can you be.
I can't believe that clients judge a real estate agent on what car they drive....maybe the other way around as this person thought...if a realtor drives a very expensive car and is showing lower and middle class houses it can be a negative thing. In CA when a RA is showing million dollar homes I can understand you better drive something better than a Ford Taurus.
Everyone should be able to live the way they want to. If you can afford extravagance, you should live it.
It's the folks that cannot afford what they have then those are the people who are having problems w/ their money. They need to get a reality check and stop living what they cannot afford. If you can afford a lot, that is great too, some who have look down on those who don't, that doesn't work for me either. Everyone should live in harmony and worry about their own business and stop being concernered w/ what everyone thinks. I think we'd have a lot less keeping up w/ the Jones and less credit card problems in this country, less Bankruptcy, cause those advertisements are on TV like crazy, foreclosures are everywhere and people can't seem to afford what they have. That tells me there is a bit too much over spending by those who can't afford it.

If living the way you want to negatively impacts the society in which you live, then NO, you should not be able to live that way.

People have to contribute to the economy somehow. Not everyone can be the ones to be frugal. For everyone one of us that is frugal, someone has to spend. If we didn't have a balance then no one would be in business. Someone has to spend money. You may chose not to and I may chose not to, but people need to survice nad people need jobs and the economy needs to grow. I say spend, spend spend if you can afford it. Don't look down on anyone and don't spend if you can't afford it and don't try to keep up w/ people if you can't afford it cause then you'll bring down those who can afford it by not being able to pay your bills and prices then go up up up.
You cannot be serious - you honestly want the government to tell you how you are to live your life? Where you can live? What kind of home you can have? What kind of food you can eat?
