The housing crisis doesn't seem to hit Dallas, will it actually hit Dallas hard?

Also Texas has a lot of flat, very flat, easily buidable land, mild weather, and excels at poaching companies & jobs from other states. It also has a lot more government investment than it likes to admit, since there are many military bases, & defense contractors there.

There is not a piece of flat land that Texans will hesitate to build out on. Houston is in a flat flood-plain. Dallas/Fort Worth are on a flat plateau. It's no coincidence that Austin is much more expensive than Texas in general since it has geographic limitations -a big river right through the middle & hills to the west. So they always have plenty of supply.

There is also a culture in Texas that does not mind commuting as far as it takes to afford housing. I mean people will not think twice about driving 75 minutes one-way. I quite frankly have not encountered a commute culture to that level. You have 2 hour commutes elsewhere, but people complain like heck about it.

Used cars are more expensive in Texas because you go through cars quickly with how much you drive, making clean used cars more scarce. Also mechanics charge more.

How has the housing crisis treated Dallas at the end of this 7.5 yr snapshot?

looks pretty favorable from here. (dangerously so)

(BTW: many of us from Oregon / PNW area fly to TX for CHEAP used cars and take them to PNW to make BIG BUCKS (for the last 20 yrs)) so.... no all is as it may appear to each poster.
