Easy, those in areas with high crime would get lower pay since they must be doing such a poor job of keeping citizens safe. Those in safe areas would get paid more because fewer people get hurt. Makes sense doesn't it?

How do you determine "MERIT?" And how much is worthy of pay? Does one need to attain ALL criteria? or is just 2 or 3 of the 5 good enough? It isn't like an athlete who has bonus pay for attaining a scoring percentage, or elected to the all-star game.

I worked for Ryder Trucks in the 1980s and we had a merit pay system. We had to complete so many units (trucks) a month then we received merit / bonus pay. One month we were 30 trucks over quota. Each truck over quota was worth $100 towards the pot, which was divided between the 6 of us in the shop. Needless to say that after this particular month merit pay no longer existed...

As other posters have said, IF a teacher does hit the $100K mark, how long will they be employed? The problem now (THEY SAY) is high salary for teachers...why would they create a program that will allow teachers to make more than they are earning today?

THEY WOULDN'T..any merit pay syatem is designed to be UNATTAINABLE and THEY (government) will say it is because TEACHERS are not good enough so experienced teachers will be replaced with NEW graduates who believe they will beable to claim the MERIT pay--not believing it has been designed with IMPOSSIBLE criteria no HUMAN will ever meet...
