I am interested to see if it becomes a national movement. I think the students have a valid point. Standardized tests are not complete gauges of intelligence or academic prowess. Often schools resort to teaching the tests, instead of teaching the subject.
Is there any way to obtain any of these tests even if they are old ones that are not currently used?
Just because a test is standardized doesn't mean it is not stupid. I don't understand how they can spend so much money coming up with standardized tests but can't make a Standardized Suggested Reading List for much less, unless it is really just about the money and education is not that important.
Good. If the students and parents refuse to comply with the absurdity that defines all of this testing, then maybe the face of "education" will change!
Unfortunately, the evaluations systems are designed to badly hurt schools where this happens. It is only a matter of time before a cascade of sanctions hit these schools, forcing firings, closures, loss of funding, etc. Once those hit in force, you will see these protests end one way or another. I would not be surprised to see a state create criminal penalties for skipping a test.
