Schools have been told to encourage boys to play netball and take dancing lessons in a bid to promote "gender equality".

The move which sees boys moving on to the traditionally female netball court is part of a Government drive to ensure that school children are more 'gender balanced'.

Every local authority in the country had to publish a "gender equality scheme" earlier this year to meet new anti-discrimination legislation.

Why shouldn't a guy learn to knit? What's the problem with that? In high school, I taught all my male friends to knit scarves. It's the style, don't ya know.

I don't think it's a bad idea. Learning to dance is never a bad skill. You never know when you could need to impress a girlfriend or something. I know I would be impressed. In any case, that's something that's been done for years in the US anyway!

Ermm, im happily married with 3 kids, who am i supposed to impress??

Knitting? man, what part of town are you from? I'd rather turn wrenches to fix cars or go on the shooting range or better yet, go hunting, which has also been done in the US of A for years, not babysitting all day and figuring how to untie my fingers apart

I'm from the deep South where men know how to be useful. Why buy a scarf for $50 at Abercrombie when you can knit one yourself in about an hour for $10. Guys take culinary arts just as much as girls took computer programming and mechanics at my high school... gender roles are overrated.
