Texas
Elementary: Twice a week P.E. and daily recess. They also do PACER tests every six weeks.
Middle School: Daily be it P.E. or Athletics all year. Athletics requires before/after school practices. Band does not count.
High School: Athletics is daily w/ before/after school practices. P.E. required for 2 full years can be substited for marching band, drill team, cheerleader in most districts.
Texas
They passed a law last year requiring 30 minutes of 'moderate to vigorous' exercise daily for K-5th grade. This can be in PE or in 'structured recess'.
Our district does PE every day for elementary schools to meet that law.
This coming fall it extends to 6th - 8th graders for 4 out of 6 semesters they must meet the 20 minutes daily, or it can be a weekly/bi-weekly figure.

Thats right. I forgot to count "movement" class on the non-PE days. So yes, every day is some form of "physical movement".
Pennsylvania

Like we said as children "I'm tellin...!" Jackson Public School District in Mississippi,:
elementary: 1x daily for 20 minutes (if the teacher feels like it) many teachers are discouraged due to constant teaching to the test
middle school: elective P.E. after years of having on again, off again unmandated P.E. most middle schoolers are too lazy to elect P.E.

Which leads us to reasons why Mississippi considered the fattest state, thick food, sitting all day, no where to walk, cause no sidewalks, and children who grow without recreation.
