SEATTLE — Washington state law does not bar teachers from having sex with 18-year-old students.
That's the decision of a three-judge panel of the Washington Court of Appeals, which on Tuesday ordered the dismissal of a case brought against Hoquiam High School's former choir teacher.
Eh, teachers are just people. They're just held to a very high standard. Don't know why. With the sex lives kids have these days, teacher's personal lives are nothing in comparison.

Its really just a morals issue. Most of my teachers were a fright so i would have to be drunk as hell to sex any of my teachers. Teachers=students=sex=loss of job & possibly career. It does happen though even with minors.
As skeeved out as the thought of teachers and students tends to make me, I personally know a couple who have been happily married for almost 25 years now.
They met when the wife was a 17 yo student of the 23 yo teacher. She got pregnant, refused to tell anyone who the father was and got married when she was 18 and had already graduated. They have since had two more kids and are very happy. The husband just retired from teaching two years ago, and there was never another instance of him being inappropriate with a student.
Do I think he should have gone to jail for that situation? Probably not. I am not even sure if he should have lost his job.
Well, as much as this gives me the crawlies, they have a point.
Let's take this outside of school. What if the guy was the manager of a McDonalds and she was a cashier of legal age. Could this guy go to prison for that?
Now, mind you, as a father of a 17-year-old, I would want to find the guy and empty a revolver into his twitching body. Then I'd reload and do it again.
