I've had a long career in writing and editing for consumer publications but would like to segue into the corporate arena. The job ads I usually see are for _technical_ writing, and the health/medical field would interest me most. (As opposed to, say, IT manuals or energy biz materials.) I'm considering an online course at Wharton junior college just for starters...anyone done it or have thoughts about another/better way to get training or experience? Also, I'm not a desktop publisher and it seems that the graphics/layout/formatting part is important in this area, but I don't know what I don't know, so to speak.
Thanks!

Are you an STC member? They have an education section on the site. I know you're only looking for one course, not a degree, but I'd probably start by looking there. STC Education (http://www.stc.org/edu/ - broken link) Probably even better to ask the mailing list and blog here. http://www.techwr-l.com/techwhirl/index.php3
No one else to weigh in on technical writing training? The moderator tried to be helpful by moving this thread out of the Houston forum to the general Education forum.... don't make her look bad!
