I am going back to school next semester and looking forward to it.
I have picked my major which will be International Business but I was wondering if there is any other major that is more suitable for someone who wants to have a career in the fashion world i.e fashion merchandising?
I'm not in the fashion industry, but what I know of it is that networking is the only way that you can get anywhere. Networking is important for almost any job, yet it seems to be factor #1, #2 and #3 when it comes to fashion - you'll be very hard-pressed to get an interview anywhere by just sending out random resumes and cover letters.
The main warning is this: getting the right internships will be key if you want a viable chance for a career and be very prepared to face a massive amount of competition for those internships while receiving little or no pay if you actually land them. So, the connections that the school that you choose to go to have with the fashion industry will likely be more important than your major itself.
