Another very positive step for the Sun City!

Quote:
El Paso will get to host the 2015 United States Bowling Congress' Men's Championship, which is expected to give the city a $75 million economic boost.

Tourism officials predicted that if the six-month tournament came to El Paso, it would attract almost 90,000 bowlers and others.

Last year, the city hosted the Bowling Congress' women's championship.

About 30,000 bowlers and another 10,000 spectators came to the city for the U.S. Bowling Congress Women's Championships, a 100-day event.

Restaurateurs, hotel operators and retailers were the main beneficiaries of the bowlers' visits. The El Paso Convention and Visitors Bureau estimated that bowlers, their friends and families spent $42 million to $48 million in El Paso and southern New Mexico. That is direct spending on lodging, food, shopping, entertainment and transportation.

They should hold it at the Bowlero and keep the place open. Can you imagine how awesome that would be?

Your idea is sound but this championship is far too big to be held at a normal bowling alley. They converted the Civic Center for the women's championship.

Wild, isn't it. I think the elpasotimes.com might have some pics of it. It was huge. The women's event had a 30 million dollar impact.

This is great news for El Paso, it is expected to bring in between possibly $75 to $100 million into the economy. So this is a huge home run for El Paso businesses.

Here is an article that talks a lot about how the 2010 USBC Women's Championships in El Paso was put together. It also shows a small video of how 48 temporary bowling lanes, large video scoreboard and seating for 750 spectators was installed.

Now the men's tournament is expected to be almost double the size of the women's tournament. So a big congrats should go out to the city leaders and staff that helped put this together and get us another tournament like this one.
