10 Best Cities for Cheapskates-Kiplinger

Kiplinger's ranks El Paso, #2 best city for "cheapskates," a label I consider an honor. I interpret that as a place where frugal people can get by for less.

They give El Paso a glowing report; and it is not facetious or "tongue-in-cheek." I know most of the other cities on their Top 10 list, and (for once) I agree, for the most part, with the rankings.

We have a lot of dollar stores besides that one. How about the Family Dollars? Maybe if they'd count both, we'd be # 1. And what about flea markets? And affordable dining? And the fact that we don't need much heat here in the winter and we don't need refrigerated air conditioning?

Agree on all counts...people complain about the taxes and cost of groceries here, but the other items (no state income tax, real estate, utilities, etc.) amount to even larger dollar amounts when all is said and done.
