Help. I have no idea where to look for housing. It's just me and my 2 cats. Will be working for a civilian contractor at Ft. Bliss

Are you looking for apt, home, near base, does it matter how far?

Hi

I really hate stop and go traffic. The distance doesn't really matter as long as the traffic is light. I'm maintaining my house in Florida so I want to keep my rent under $700 for a 1 bedroom.

Will you be working on Main Post or East Bliss? I ask because it's quite a distance, up to 20 minute difference in commute depending on which side of post you work on.

If you're on East Bliss, I say this:

Las Mansiones ~ Resort Style Living

Main Post, I would:

Puerta Villa at Cimarron Apartments - El Paso, TX 79911 | Apartments for Rent

Puerta Villa at Cimarron is on the other side of the mountain, however, the commute isn't too bad.

Both communities are gated with swimming pools. However, you will have to increase your budget a little bit. I do believe there is a decent amount of vacancy at Puerta Villa so they might be able to cut you some on the rent.

If you avoid I-10, I've found that you can avoid stop and go traffic. I don't drive on I-10 very much these days since it makes my blood boil.

That will NOT be a fun commute.

Terrible commute. If someone works at Fort Bliss, it's best to live in the NE part of town.

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but that property is old. When the weather gets bad (rain or snow) people have issues going up Argonaut since it is at a steep incline. The only thing Kings Hill has going for it are the views and the refrigerated air!

You could have stayed at the Monticello, which are on the bottom of Kings Hill. They are probably a bit more expensive, but probably worth it. Good luck and we hope you enjoy your stay!

I lived at Kings Hills for ten years and really enjoyed it (one of the lofts with a view). I only had trouble with the hill a few times, and generally when we got a lot of snow (which is rare).

Frankly though, going over Transmountain scares me, and I wouldn't want to do it every day
