Quick question? I love driving all around town with my family, [doesnt help that i got a gas guzzling Suburban], anyway i seen these hawks or eagles flying all over town, just wanted to know if anybody knew what kind of hawks or eagles are common in the El Paso area, pics of these beauties would be appreciated, thanks!

I never thought of the DoD as being interested in birds and preserving habitat. That's nice that they are. That is quite a checklist.

My folks' house is in the upper valley and I remember always seeing red tailed hawks hanging out in the area. One particularly liked an electric pole to the rear of the property. Beautiful birds and are quite impressive..

theres all sorts of birds in the area just south of country club river bridge and if you are lucky you might see the flock of parrots that live in the upper valley ,you do have to walk a bit

Sounds like EP is good for bird watching. The migratory bird frequent the river, from my reading.

Yes you do,Rio Bosque in the lower valley and infact there is one also somewhere over in Northeast El Paso, it's not really wetlands but it does attract all kinds of birds I think it's a sewage treatment facility and some guy by the name of Joe of(hellpaso) over on Flickr website has taken some very interesting pictures of the wildlife that hangs out in the pond around the water treatment area and Rio Bosque , you'll find some of pictures of Hawks that are common around El Paso and other interesting critters.
