People be safe today.. its gonna be nasty out there. 30-35 mile an hour winds with gust up to 50mph. Also blowing dust will knock your line of sight to under a mile.. so take your time and leave early if you have to get out today.

This weather is nuts, i thought the winds ended in late march, early april, were in june, and the winds still havent subsided.100 Degrees, with 50 mph winds, that is insane, i think thats how the weather would be down there with ole big red horns [lol] I wonder how the rest of the summer is going to be.

In all my years in El Paso, it seemed to me that when the hot weather arrived, the winds stopped.

Not this year!

The combination of way-above-normal temperatures with all these continuous, chronic high winds is not only annoying, but it's seriously drying out everything in my garden, even though I'm watering it on the same schedule I always have. Bummer!

That is kinda rare that you are still getting gusty winds, I remember malamute telling us that El Paso only get three wind storms per year, this should be #3 I guess.lol

(stay safe everybody)

I cannot remember a day like yesterday in June with 99 degree temps, 30 mph wind gusts, and blowing sand; you only get that with an aprroaching storm this time of year. KVIA reported we have had more than double the days with blowing sand compared to last year. With seven months of little or no moisture, the dust will fly until we get a good rain. The whole southwest is dry..ugh and the Lincoln National forest will propbably close soon if it has not already. Oh well..at least the Rio has water.

THANKS PEGGY! WOOT! I'm a 500 Club member now!

Back on topic.. Yeah it was not as bad as I thought it would be today.. the wind was a bit cooler than yesterdays, where it was as hot as the sun. I got some work done in the yard today even given the bad winds.

When I worked on Fort Bliss, we had plenty of bad windy days but then again out on Biggs or McGregor on patrol you had no break and lots of dirt so it always seemed much worse.

I think there have been a few more windy days, maybe double.

Still -- I remember dust storms that make the ones this year and the last couple of years look like -- well not much of anything. I have seen dust storms that make for almost no visibility and I can't say the ones this year or in recent years have been like that. I remember winds where you felt you had to grab hold of something or you'd blow away and nothing this year was that bad. I haven't actually seen much dirt in the air kind of winds, most just plastic bags flying through the air and trash cans being knocked over.

One thing to keep in mind, almost always when it's a little windy in El Paso and to the point it gets annoying, there are tornadoes or hurricanes going on somewhere else.

One windy day here -- Atlanta had tornado deaths, the other week it was windy here and Colorado had tornadoes.
