She's hating it.

My area didn't get hit with much snow~a few inches and most of it melted and all we have left is a heavy icy glaze. Our winds were roaring with 74 mph wind gusts. That's not as bad as out in the Hills where Deadwood had nearly 4 FEET of snow and they clocked one gust at 105 mph out in that area. Their sustained winds were in the 70 mph range.

There were over 13,000 without power at one time and that's a lot considering the population of our entire state is 750,000.

The interstate was closed from Murdo to the Wyo. border for hours and hours and I don't know if it's open yet. Last night they closed it from here (Mitchell) to the Wyo. border. They were aware of over 400 people stranded between here and Murdo~accidents, ditched cars, etc. They really had no idea how many were actually out there since cell phone towers had blown over and many people couldn't have gotten through to call for help.

My windchill was down to 5 degrees even though the temp was actually near 30.

Anyway, I'm just glad it's over. The remnants are cold, icy winds and slippery roads.

Thank you for thinking about me, Brother and also~thank you, El for the message.

You guys wouldn't by any chance have a vacant apartment for me down there, would you? LOL

And to Southernbliss~OMG~just say, "NO"!!!! I'm from this cold area of the country and I can't even stand it. Don't let your DH subject you to 6 months of misery.

I live in Wichita Falls, Texas. While not the warmest place in Texas, its far from the coldest. Being here in the western part of North Texas, we see all kinds of weather here in the winter. One day it will be in the 30's or lower 40's, and within 48 hours, it could exceed 80 degrees! I would personally rather be in south Texas during the winter, as there extremes are much less so. I can tolerate the summer heat, but the winter cold is another thing (I was born and raised in Montana, have experienced cold as low as -40 degrees standing cold, so I rather enjoy the warmth of Texas!).

Default You think it's cold?!

Hello all! I have been reading alot about El Paso lately b/c we will be moving their soon.We live in the Rapid City, South Dakota area at the moment. IT IS COLD HERE! We truly had a blizzard yesterday, it was CRAZY! I am used to the cold and winters, but the weather out here is just CRAZY sometimes. Just north of here I heard they got 47 inches of snow, 47!!!! I'll miss the snow but not the crazy wind blowing it all around.

You can get unused to cold and winters very fast. One winter here and you'd never want to go back there.

It's one thing when you're used to blizzards and accept them as just a part of life like we do the spring dust storms here, but once you realize that you're going through a blizzard while others are enjoying bright sunshine and just somewhat of a cool day -- well-- that's just too hard.

I'm the direct opposite. Give me 100+ in the shade any day. I hate when it's too cold to do anything outdoors.

Hi neighbor, please keep us posted. I'd love to know how you end up liking El Paso. My guess is that during the winter, you'll feel like you're in Paradise.

Ok, so how cold is it down there today?
