btroop ~ thanks for the info. We just bought a house in Horizon city ~ won't be moving there for a month or so, so not quite familiar with all the surrounding areas. We were told that eventually my dh would be able to get to work via a new gate closer to us in horizon city. Im excited that it looks to be true! Thanks!

Mrs Robinson, when you get here and have time. Start a thread about the ups and downs of moving here, your impression of the area and FT Bliss, areas to get help or areas where they need to improve service, commuter travel time and local drivers, etc.. Have the husband talk about his experience at the new assignment, in processing, the people.. It might be helpful for people being assigned in the future. Talk about the schools. What families should bring or perhaps buy, storage of heavy winter clothes. There is so much you can tell us and be helpful to others. Those are good questions posed by ABN.

No problem, ask anything you like and i'll try to answer!

1. House hunting was GRUELING hahahah ~ there is quite a bit of houses out there. What is neat is that there is something decent in about any price range. When we bought in cali and in Wa ~ there wasn't so much range.

2. They did have a lot to show us, but we pretty much found our own house by searching the MLS online...........you can type in what you want to spend, bedroom/bathroom requirements, area's you want, schools you want.............its great and you save so much time narrowing your list down.

3, They were helpful.

4. We offered asking price on our house, and asked them to pay the closing costs. They accepted our offer. They would not budge on the price, and my husband loved the house so much we agreed. The agents help you kind of get an idea what you want to offer, and some of the houses they would tell us what they suggested we could ask ~ in the current market, the buyer has pretty good leverage, but at the same time ~ a lot of the houses have been brought down so much price wise there isn't a whole lot of room to budge. Keep that in mind if your wanting to buy a house going into forclosuer. Your buying it "as is" and the banks won't bargain ~ it is what it is.

Like i said, feel free to ask me what ever you want to know! Goodness knows I had tons of questions too!

Great Idea Luplor ~ i will be happy to do that once we get settled in! I know this place helped me with a lot of questions and its a nice resource. Moving can be very stressful. Were pretty excited to get to El Paso. Ive decided i'll spend the money to keep a yard full of grass (and hopefully plants) so that I can have a touch of green in my life. That is my only "fear" right now is missing green and rivers and lakes..............but there is so much beauty in the desert too. Its so ........rugged :-) But yea, good idea thanks!
