I am moving to EP and wanted to rent a loft. I know there are some downtown but I cannot pull them up on Google. Can anybody help?
Thanks

There's a loft complex at South Florence at First Avenue under development (http://www.elpasotexas.gov/downtown/investment/1st_avenue_lofts.htm - broken link) (there's a thread on it somewhere), but I don't know if any units are available. There may be other lofts planned; someone else might know about that. As far as I know, this is it as far as downtown lofts in El Paso are concerned.

There are loft spaces in what was the old Popular building (downtown). I'll see if I can find a link for you.

Thank you -- I keep seeing lofts on Craigslist at 4437 Stanton Street but, when I e-mail the person who posted it, he/she never responds.

That address is w-a-y far from the downtown area. It's actually the address for the Temple Mt. Sinai and there are large apartment complexes in that neighborhood, but no "lofts."

There are no real "loft" developments in El Paso unless you want to rent your own industrial space and live in it. IMHO you'd be better finding an apt or a rental house further from downtown. Temple Mt Sinai is on the edge of the Kern Place neighbourhood - the closest we come to a big city trendy neighbourhood w/ nightlife.

The old Popular building is in the 100 block of North Mesa, right in the heart of downtown.

The story is about new apartments being built in and around downtown, like the rebuilding of the old Alamito housing project and the apartment complex on Myrtle at Ange.

Downtown is zoned mostly for Aoy and Hart in prekindergarten to fifth grade and Guillen for grades six to eight. If this thing with people with money moving into downtown takes hold, should be interesting to see what happens when their kids show up at those schools.
