So much for all that ridiculous hype and all those bogus polls that predicted that the GOP would take Congress. They failed to do so with many Dems sitting on the sidelines. Weak.

The power is balanced now, thank God.

Now maybe this hellacious health care bill will get repealed.

But the house is now Republican controlled which means Princess Pelosi's smug face will no longer be in front as Speaker. Good riddance.

That is silly.

The reason is that only 1/3 of the Senate is up for re-election every cycle. If the entire Senate were up this election just like the House, the GOP would have swept a clear majority there as well.

Here's my prediction: the libs in the senate that held on by the skin of their teeth will see the bloodbath in Congress, and the fact that the GOP came pretty damn close to taking the Senate (I think it will end up 51-49, maybe 52-48) and will move more to the right. The RINOS will cease RINOING and the Blue Dogs will take a definite turn to the right. Obama's agenda is dead. The loss of Congress and the shift in power in the Senate have killed it. Libs have the Senate for now but they see the writing on the wall and know that they'll lose it the next cycle unless they start paying attention to the will of the American people. This country is not going down the path of Obama/Pelosi/Reid socialism any longer.

This assumes conservatives put their money where their mouth is. They'd better damn well earn what they've won.

What does the Constitution say?

Control of the Senate means a majority of 60 or more, especially on crucial issues. The democrats lost control of the Senate, but the republicans did not come anywhere near gaining control.

However, the republicans did gain control of the House.

The President has lost the legislative initiative, though he can still veto, and any veto will most likely be upheld in the Senate.

The result of this election is the one intended by the electorate: gridlock.

Do you really think that the RINOs or "conservatives", or even the tea party wing, will put their money where their mouth is?

In the eyes of the electorate, the men and women of both parties are corrupt, bought and sold, a reflection of themselves, like cheap game show hosts, so if the corrupt fight amongst each other a little more and legislate a little less, they may do somewhat less damage to the body social at large and possibly slow the decline of what used to be a great country, probably the least miserable of a host of miserable scenarios for US society going forward.

Good Luck!

I commend all Illinoisians (is that the proper term?) for making their voices heard this election.

Mr. Obama, you just lost your long held Democratic seat to a Republican.
