Ill. high court: Emanuel can run for Chicago mayor - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110127/ap_on_go_ot/us_chicago_mayor - broken link)

Quote:
CHICAGO – Illinois' highest court put Rahm Emanuel back in the race for Chicago mayor Thursday, three days after a lower court threw the former White House chief of staff off the ballot because he had not lived in the city for a full year.

The state Supreme Court ruled unanimously in Emanuel's favor, saying an appeals court decision that said the candidate needed to be physically present in Chicago was "without any foundation in Illinois law."

Yep...silly to think he wouldn't be on that ballot. I'm surprised they don't have ballots with ONLY his name is on it! LOL!!!

Love your spirit and reasoning. This is just part of the Chicago scene. Now let's see how many dead people vote for him, like others in the past.

Rahm couldn't have planned this better if he had protested his own legitimacy.
There has been more discussion over his eligibility than the issues.
It's kept his name in the spotlight, overshadowed his opponents and even managed to garner him sympathy, in effect transforming Rahm the insiders insider to Rahm the underdog.

Meanwhile his war chest brims from millions donated by the elite in DC all the way to Hollywood.
It's a tale right at home in the former swamp we now know as Chicago.

Emmanuel didn't live in Chicago the past two years and does not belong on the ballot.

This just goes to show that it's still about "who you know" in Chicago politics. I feel bad for Mosely Braun.
