Kentucky Republican Rand Paul, a senator for all of three months, is flirting with a 2012 presidential bid (http://bit.ly/fNhWNX - broken link). He’s hitting key early states in a tour for his new book “The Tea Party Goes to Washington” and he’s dodging questions on whether he’s interested in running for president, telling ABC News last month “come back and ask me in a few months” when asked on the matter.
“The only decision I’ve made is I won’t run against my dad,” the younger Paul said earlier this week in South Carolina.
Is it smart for Rand Paul to float national ambitions so early in his political career? Who would be the stronger 2012 candidate for Republicans – Rand or his father Ron, who’s run twice for the presidency so far?

That could be very interesting for the GOP primaries !
It is too soon for him. As for who would be ther stronger candidate: Rand would for a lot of reasons. For starters the age issue would stop Ron before he gets started and Rand is a little more likable than his dad.

I agree. I, and probably many people, look at Ron Paul running for president and think, "isn't he getting a bit too old for a stressful job like being president?"

Heck, I am not quite as old an Ron and I have enough trouble handling the stress of being a part time Travel Agent and arguing politics on this thread.
Isn't Ron Paul like almost 80. No way would most American voters ever elect somebody that old into the White House. The GOP needs to shed it's image of only being the party for old White male senior citizens.
No doubt rand would be getting coached by his father. I think either one of the 2 would make good leaders.
