I am asking this because for the most part the GOP has mostly Protestant Christians and a couple of Mormon candidates. Does that factor into your decision.
WHat if a candidate was Atheist or Agnostic, or they were Hindu. What if they are devout Muslims.
What if their religion believed that Hotair2 was the second coming. (Completely made up religion - I don't know anyone who believes that, least of all me.) Would any of this have any bearing on how you voted.
It depends on the person, as in whether they are someone that would let their religion affect their decisions that in turn affect the whole country. A real professional leaves that stuff at home when they go to work.
I find Mormons pretty freaky but Romney, for example, doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would cross that line too much, so it's not really an issue for me.
Now if Ralph Reed were running for POTUS, it would be a huge issue, because he's the type that cannot separate his personal beliefs from his professional responsibilities.
All things equal on the issues, I'd have a hard time voting for a muslim. As for an atheist? If they were dumb enough to think that there is no God I'm not sure how bright they can be.

I'm not sure how bright someone can be for believing that a supernatural, superstitious deity with absolutely no evidence can possibly exist.
I will never vote for a candidate who professes their belief in a deity. Anyone who cannot discern fantasy from reality is not qualified to lead the country.

I am not going to argue which religion would be better or not better. I am just curious as to how much a factor it is in voting. I believe for many people it is a factor.
I can honestly say that I would not vote for anyone whose religion believed that I was the 2nd coming.

I agree. I am an atheist, but would not vote against a candidate based on their religion or nonreligion at all. With that said, I do think it would be best for America if we did finally have a nonreligious/atheist president.

So I take it that you have never voted for the winner in any presidential elections?
I would agree. Fortunately we've been given all kinds of good evidence.
Yeah? Like what? "Good evidence" should leave no questions asked.
