Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann said Sunday that she would consider oil and natural gas drilling in the Everglades if it can be done without harming the environment.
hah. that's like saying you support a war against Iran, as long as nobody gets hurt.

How did you come to this conclusion? Drilling for oil and natural gas happens everyday with minimal environmental impact. The National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) is no joke. Not to mention all the other layers of bureacracy. Either you pass muster, or you don't drill. Not sure why you believe differently.
i know the government bought the rights previously, but i am not aware of any studies on the subject.
it seems like when you would drill where the proven reserves are, so wouldn't you start in alaska?
i am all in on american energy independence. we could redirect the flow of money back to our country, bring jobs to americans, and improve our standard of living again.
You'd think a person intending to run for President would have advisors (and they might listen to them every once in a while). Bachmann is apparently going with the Foot-in-Mouth approach to elective office. Not that I'm complaining, however.
wasn't her answer more on a hypothetical level that is being "interpreted" by the media?:
"The United States needs to be less dependent on foreign sources of energy and more dependent upon American resourcefulness. Whether that is in the Everglades, or whether that is in the eastern Gulf region, or whether that's in North Dakota, we need to go where the energy is," she said. "Of course it needs to be done responsibly. If we can't responsibly access energy in the Everglades then we shouldn't do it."
i am still waiting for the liberal plan for energy independence, or maybe they don't want it after all.

She and hubby Marcus could power a wind farm all by themselves.
