I love Ron Paul too.. he's brilliant. But he really needs to get out there more and get some TV time. Love his stance on Illegal Immigration. Although I'm of the opinion we need to start shooting at people that do run the border, which I'm sure he doesn't agree with.

His immigration plan is perfectly reasonable. There is no ONE plan that will solve the issue. When the economic climates change, so does the best practice. End birth rights citizenship, I think he's the only one that has had this stance, end welfare for illegals, and create an economic climate that incentives any immigrant from anywhere to adopt our rule of law and speak english.

Some ignoramuses call him an isolationist incorrectly just to instigate with him, but building a fence, that is a far more isolationist idea. And an ineffective and expensive one at that. Lets invite a full blown war with Mexico on our soil, freaking genius idea! SMH

Perot was correct.

Also good observation that NAFTA passed in 1993....18 years ago!

The reason we can't get traction is because both parties are the same and the party sheep have amnesia. One poster here in a current thread told us that the Republicans controlled the house and senate and so Clinton was forced to pass NAFTA. When we pulled up the records showing that NAFTA was passed when the Democrats controlled the house, senate and presidency they never came back to the thread.

Really, what this tells us is that the unions are so locked into the dem party through corruption and incest that they won't even do what's in their own self interests. These are the very people that should be supporting guys like Paul but instead their leadership is rallying them AGAINST him.

Then when they get bent over some more they can blame the republicans but in reality both parties screwed them over and they said thankyou sir may I have another. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Honestly, Ross Perot was not attractive enough to be president. It doesn't matter what he said...unless he looked like Ronald Reagan...not many americans would vote for the poor dude.

Anyway, I was listening to the comments before Obama's speech last night...and some Republican guy (I think) had the nerve to say Obama could help the economy by signing the free trade agreements "on his desk." LOL I had to laugh.

Did anyone else listen? The guy was like yeah people in my state could be selling all KINDS of stuff overseas and stimulate the economy.

NAFTA was ratified during Clinton's presidency, however, that ball started rolling long before and was actually signed by Bush I.
"The impetus for NAFTA actually began with President Ronald Regan [sic], who campaigned on a North American common market. In 1984, Congress passed the Trade and Tariff Act. This is important because it gave the President "fast-track" authority to negotiate free trade agreements, while only allowing Congress the ability to approve or disapprove, not change negotiating points.
...
NAFTA was signed by President George H.W. Bush, Mexican President Salinas, and Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney in 1992. It was ratified by the legislatures of the three countries in 1993"

Anyway, back to the OP: yes, Ross Perot was right about a great many things. And Ron Paul is no Ross Perot.

This isn't "Chopped" on the Food Network. Or "Cupcake Wars". "Looks" should have ZERO to do with people's decisions. Would you hire an architect or a lawyer based primarily on his looks????? Come on!
