Righties, who are you pining your hopes on now that Ponzi is done? Will it be Cain for the win? Still holding out for Palin's October surprise? Ready to concede the inevitable and coronate Romney? Where are you at?

Don't count Perry out yet. They are still trying to breathe life back in him.

Perry's stumble gives Palin an opening. Palin could announce later and bank on no one else getting into the race. That would give her a lot of free press. She could just camp out in Iowa and use that contest to launch her off.

The smart GOP move would be to hope CC jumps in, if not rally around MR, and in either case, SP would just fracture the rally, and be the final piece of the chapter in Obama II.

Palin isn't dumb enough to do that. She doesn't want to be President, and she sure doesn't want a part of any of these debates. My God, do you really think that she would do well in a debate against Obama? Do you realize that a huge portion of the country thinks she is a walking punchline? The Republicans would be better off just throwing in the towel, honestly. And they know that. No chance she enters.

The question is does she know that?
