A judge in Arizona has ruled that State Senate candidate Olivia Cortes can stay in the race to recall
SB 1070 author Russell Pierce, even though Pierce's main opponent, Republican Jerry Lewis, was able to prove to the court that
Pierce's own political team recruited Cortes to run.
It appears Pierce's plan is to have Cortes, a Latina activist, syphon off the Hispanic vote from Lewis, and allow Pierce to keep his job. The judge, while aware of the scheme, said he had no cause to remove Cortes, since she herself had done nothing wrong. Guess it didn't occur to him to
remove Pierce!
