I thought election campaigns only started a year from the election date or at least used to and that any polls/news beyond that year start date is just too early to take seriously.
Has the advancement in news gathering/internet made that 'tradition/adage' obsolete now?
Polls right now are still too early to take seriously. Nothing's really changed in that regard. If we took polling this far out seriously as a predictive force a month ago we'd all have been convinced Rick Perry would be the next president and could've written off the next 8 months of primary season. Look at him now. People who don't understand this think Herman Cain is the next great hope; he'll tank in a couple weeks like he did earlier in Spring after Michele Bachmann got in the race. And she in turn tanked once Perry announced his candidacy and she started saying goofy stuff.
