Interesting how easy it is for someone who is very wealthy to say that if you don't have a job and are not rich, it is your fault. Yet whenever there is a job fair, lines form, sometimes in the thousands, with people hoping for at least an interview for a job. Could it be that we are not a nation totally addicted to the dole, and that most people do want to work, but jobs are hard to come by at this time?

Nope, probably sounds better to just say that all the unemployed are lazy losers and push that political hot button.

Herman Cain is just the updated version of George Jefferson (cue "Movin' On Up") with pizzerias instead of laundrymats. "I Got Mine ... too bad for You"! I'm just waiting for him to refer to Obama as "Zebra Boy".

I don't think that is very nice and I might disagree, if nothing else it is a pretty clever statement.

Reps for you! This is something the older generation fails to comprehend. We are not a nation addicted to welfare/unemployment. I mean, really, who really wants to live off $32 in food stamps, $400 in unemployment, and be homeless. Seriously??? Some people are just so STUPID.

All you have to do is attend a job fair at MCDONALDS and realize that people are DESPERATE.

let me clue you in: no one ever said we were a nation addicted to welfare but there are many and they have been living on selfare for generationst that all addicted. As for $400 a month unemployment, you do realize it is based on the cost of living in your area: I don't know of a sole that is receiving only $400 a month and $32 in food stamps, get real...Most of us are facing situations where family members or close friends are desparate and many are taking jobs at places like McDonalds.

Actually unemployment is based on how much money you made at your previous job. I received ue from Arizona and did meet a few people who were receiving $133 a week in unemployment. The max in AZ is $240. A coworker of mine who was laid off with me received $100 a week in unemployment. She took a part-time temporary job and her benefits were cut. The average food stamp benefit in Indiana is $32 a week. It was broadcast on our local news.

I am one of those desperate people. I actually tried to get a job at McDonalds. I hate depending on people for money. I am currently living off my emergency fund, which will run out. I stopped buying my medication because I don't want to apply for government benefits. I don't think I qualify anyway because I wasn't someone who popped out babies like no tomorrow.
