Yet his numbers keep growing and he leads the polls in the first primary state...so is it just crazy RP supporters that are voting for him? If there are so many that give him the lead, wouldn't that make those supporters mainstream?

Your statement's logic is flawed.

More like they're interested in getting RP the nomination, and/or voting for him as the 3rd party candidate.

That's like saying I far prefer ham to pork....they both come from the same animal.

The modern Democratic party believes in centralized governmental authority, massive entitlements, and a high progressive tax structure.
The modern Democratic party has also lost touch with what liberalism once stood for, same like how the Republican party lost touch with what conservatism once stood for. Believe it or not, liberalism and conservatism both believed in limited government and the Constitution once upon a time. Then the Democratic party went the welfare way and later, the Republican party went the warfare way. A massive centralized government, entitlements and high taxes are more in line with socialism than liberalism (or at least what used to be liberalism).

Just like how some conservative issues are more important to conservatives than others, some liberal/progressive issues are more important to liberals/progressives. They support Paul because of his positions on foreign policy, War on Drugs, civil liberties etc.

Also, very importantly, Democrats, Republicans and Independents who support Paul even if they do not agree on some issues is because they know he is honest and genuine. I will gladly vote for an honest person with whom I do not agree 100% than a dishonest person who says he agrees with me 100%.

Mitt Romney's supporters are being wayyy underestimated. They are a solid, very dedicated group and they are not flailing around from this candidate to that candidate each week a new flavor appears. There is a reason Romney always maintains his 25-30% average no matter what the ups and downs are. His supporters are not going anywhere. They are just as determined to get him nominated as Ron Paul's supporters are.

Childish and ignorant at best. Every candidate has crazy supporters, and anyone that votes for someone based on their supporters is making a huge and serious mistake. For the record, there are some Paul supporters I know in person, and that I've run into online that I absolutely can't stand because they are rude, pushy, and probably have IQs in the low double digits...I can also say the same thing for some Bush, Obama, Romney, Perry, Palin, and Clinton supporters....I would never dream of placing a vote based on my opinion of those supporters. If people that say things like that aren't lying, they should be ashamed of themselves for voting the way that they did.

yes every candidate has nutty/crazy supporters and no one is going to say all Paul supporters are kooks or let's hope no one will claim that, but it is true the majority of mainstream Republicans do not support Paul. Certainly you have to know this by now. The secret word here is: mainstream!!!

I don't agree with Huckabee's views, but he's right about this. How does the GOP plan to win the election when 17-25% of the GOP voters won't support any other candidate but Ron Paul?

Without Ron Paul's supporters, no one in the GOP wins. Ron Paul is the only chance the GOP has to unseat Obama.
By the time it gets around to my primary, probably 3 more candidates will drop out. Gary Johnson (announced on Greta's show last night), by the way, is dropping out today and trying to get on the Libertarian ticket. If he succeeds, where does that leave Ron Paul? Johnson would automatically be on the ballot in 50 states. Ron Paul would finally have some competition for the dope smoker vote. Do you think more of them are Republicans or Democrats?
