To the DNC, and by extension Barak Obama, Mitt Romney is the candidate they most fear in the general election. In an unusual move Democrats are placing an emphasis on Romney with ads and op-ed pieces during the Republican primary rather than husbanding their resources until the general election. They have even hired a disgruntled former employee of Ampad, Randy Johnson, whose factory was acquired by Bain Capital and shuttered in 1994, to stalk Romney campaign events. His expenses are paid for by the DNC and he is constantly shadowed by a DNC staffer who marshals the press and cameras to Johnson who tells his story to whomever will listen.

Rush Limbaugh’s assertion that Democrats want to face Mitt Romney in the general election couldn’t be farther from the truth. Their singular focus on Romney shows that they intend to derail his candidacy in the primaries because he is the candidate they least want to face. No other candidate has yet to receive the attention from the DNC or Obama’s reelection machine that Romney has. If, in fact, they wanted to face Romney, seeing him as the weakest candidate, they would surely be propping him up, doing nothing or actively derailing his opponents, saving Mr. Johnson’s work for the general election

You do realise that this is typical politics of this day and age. Whomever the front runner is will get the most attention from those who seek to topple him. If it was Gingrich, the Obama campaign would do the same towards him.

John Kerry (R) only strikes fear in the hearts of gun owners like myself.

Not really, because even when others have been the frontrunner, Romney still was the focus of the Obama campaigns attacks. How many non=Romney's have there been now? None of them got any attention from the Dems.

That's because none of them deserved any attention.

Paul had no shot. Everyone in politics knew Perry is a dunce and couldn't handle it. And Gingrich? Way too much baggage. The rest are afterthoughts.

It will be interesting to see if painting Romney as a 1 percenter who gets off on firing people for profit plays well. I beileve that's the angle Obama is going to use.

Really, ya think...lol? It will work but only on the voters he would have already had. It's a weak tactic even for Obama, and for Republican rivals it is the worst idea ever.

I don't know--I think we're moving into a much more populist mood in the country. Besides, that's not the approach Obama is taking in the general (we're not there yet)--it's the approach Newt is taking against Romney in the primary, and he's dumping in millions to do it.

Others have led polls. Romney has always been the likely nominee.

But, hey, if you think the GOP was ever actually going to nominate a Pizza magnate/lobbyist, well ... you're welcome to that delusion.

The GOP nominee is invariably the guy who 'came in second' last time, the guy with the bulk of the major endorsements, with the major advisors and players involved in his campaign, with the largest infrastructure and the biggest fundraising. And that's always been Romney.

You people never, never, never learn! You always think the nomination is up for grabs. In reality, it is always glaringly obvious two years out who the nominee will be. You just don't get it because you don't pay attention, and you refuse to learn from history.

So clueless ...
