Romney is so in touch with us little people. I don't get any warm fuzzies from a man with accounts in the Cayman Islands and a man who is spending massive amounts of money to remodel his La Jolla, CA home during this election while many familes are homeless.

Even worse he is tearing his 3,500 square foot house down to build his 11,000 sf new house!

Mitt (Mr. 13.9% tax man) and Newt (Mr. Racist) Take your pick. They are both so out of touch with reality and are pathetic. Neither of them come close to having what it takes to be a "President" and Americans are starting to see the light. Poll: High Marks for Obama's State of the Union Speech - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

Up, up we go and Obama isn't even in full campaign mode yet. I am loving how Mitt and Newt are just ripping each other apart. They are giving President Obama lots of material. Keep up the good work guys, you are doing great.

If Romney can't win Florida with the entire GOP establishment filing one hit piece after another against his opponent, outspending his opponent by several margins, and a much better ground operation than any of his opponents; he may as well just go home.

Romney should win Florida just like he should win New Hamphire. The problem for him is that nationally, the poll shows that Republican voters prefer Gingrich to him.

If Romney can't win Florida with the entire GOP establishment behind him, with the right-wing media publishing one hit piece after another against his opponent, outspending his opponent by several margins, and a much better ground operation than any of his opponents; he may as well just go home.

So the big picture is this: Romney is threatened by Newt Gingrich?? Newt Freakin' Gingrich? Really? This little chubby despicable man despised by even GOP leaders is beating Romney? How is Romney a viable candidate again?

One good thing: true conservatives will be completely out of the picture come November if it's Romney vs. Obama.

You need to take into account that once Romney is nominated (assuming he will be), then the real, full-force campaign against him can commence. And it will be damaging.

He is already damaged. He is now just a rich guy with no connection to the average person . Presidential elections go to the one who is more likable not the one with the better ideas (one word: Bush). Romney is a Dom Perignon guy to Obama's Budweiser. People will vote for rich guys, but they have to connect with the voters and they have to convey that they care about the average guy. Romney does neither very well. Gonna be more than tough to beat a "one of us" Obama who sings Al Green so well.

This isn't 2008 - it's 2012 and people are voting after 4 disastrous years of Obama, not voting after fatigue of George Bush.

Assuming Romney gets the nomination, which isn't a given at this point, I expect the general will be much like the 1980 election, where Jimmy Carter (Obama) was blown out by Reagan despite leading in the opinion polls for most of the summer.
I think you are wrong, and your post is wishful thinking on your part.

The election is going to be a very close one. There will be no landslide. Although I do not have a crystal ball and can predict who the winner will be, I am certain it will be a very tight race.

i agree with santorum though that romney essentially ceding healthcare to obama is a something repubs cant afford to give up.

i also still think obama wins comfortably vs. romney, because romney has no base. it wont be mccain like beating, but id bet money on him getting 300 or more EV's.
I think you are right about Romney winning Fl and then he is pretty much home free. I just can't see anyone coming close to catching him. He has the money and the momemtum. As for Nov, a lot can and will happen between now and them. I am holding off my betting for another few months.
