One of [the] most humorous I think relates to my father. You may remember my father, George Romney, was president of an automobile company called American Motors. ... They had a factory in Michigan, and they had a factory in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and another one in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. And as the president of the company he decided to close the factory in Michigan and move all the production to Wisconsin. Now later he decided to run for governor of Michigan and so you can imagine that having closed the factory and moved all the production to Wisconsin was a very sensitive issue to him, for his campaign.
How funny. I can see him trying to explain the loss of 4300 jobs to the people he was asking to vote for him. I bet they had a lot of laughs about how he had to act all sorry and everything. Great dinner party story, eh?

From a related article:
“Every time they would start playing ‘On Wisconsin, On Wisconsin,’ my dad’s political people would jump up and down and try to get them to stop, because they didn’t want people in Michigan to be reminded that my dad had moved production to Wisconsin,” said Romney, laughing."
Well clearly Wisconsin had a more favorable business climate, or he wouldn't have done it. I'm glad he kept those manufacturing jobs right here in America, way to go George
And by helping his own bottom line, I bet he was even able to expand and hire more Americans.
It is becoming increasingly obvious that this man is too stupid to be president.
I don't think Mitt's too stupid to be president (that bar is set pretty low).
But I do think, especially after seeing him on Leno, that he lacks the mental dexterity to successfully perform the balancing act he'll need to keep the Right on his side, AND bring women and independents back into the fold, in the general election.
The more exposure Romney gets, the higher his negatives. The guy reeks of sleezy inauthenticity, and it turns people off. I don't see anyway he can reverse that. It's too late to come out as the "Real Romney"- who would believe him
All these gaffes will come back to bite Romney. I myself have no doubt in my mind that Romney is terribly out of touch with the common man's struggles to pay their bills, find and hold a job or foreclose on a house. It's not conjecture - through his string of gaffes, this is exactly what is revealed.
While I don't mind a rich man running the country (actually I do believe that the President should possess some amount of reasonable wealth), I don't want an insensitive rich man running the country. If you are insensitive to our troubles, you are not going to feel an urgency to correct them.
It's also very revealing how low Romney stoops to pander to every state's denizens. In MI, the trees were the right height, while in WI, "Hey, I fired Michiganders to give you Wisconsinites some jobs, ain't that hilarious? Imagine what kind of lies my father had to feed the Michiganders about the factory closings when he had to run for Governor of MI..haha..suckers. And yeah, we are dumb broke, but we must bomb Iran ASAP..haha..you guys need to work on the height of your trees though. Vote R-Money..sorry, I mean Romney, k, tnx."

Maybe he doesn't relate well to people in general, especially the sensitive types looking to be offended. However, he clearly isn't stupid. He is highly successful as a student, businessman, governor and family man.
"Funny story! You folks'll love this one! Once, when my father discovered we were out of caviar and fois gras, and the car elevator was broken so he couldn't get either the Bentley or the Mercedes out of the upstairs garage, he had to take the company car to the market. It was an Impala! Talk about slumming! One of his friends happened to spot him behind the wheel, and he couldn't show his face at the yacht club for a month!"

Seriously. you know what - Mitt's kind of dorky. He's kind of an awkward guy. But what is this, high school? That kind of stupid stuff is why we are rejecting an extremely hard-working, intelligent, successful businessman/governor? A guy who has spent his life turning around failing enterprises, when that is exactly what our country needs. And here we are rejecting his candidacy because we think he says weird things.
Romney is anything but stupid. I don't think I could graduate top of my class at BYU while having two kids, then going to simultaneously pursue business and law degrees from Harvard, during which time having a third child.
