Herman Cain drops Newt Gingrich, ready to back Mitt Romney - MJ Lee - POLITICO.com

Quote:
“I have always said I will support whoever the nominee is and it looks like Mitt Romney’s going to be that nominee, and we do need to get behind him,” Cain said on Fox News. “I remind people all the time … ‘Keep your eye on the mission.’ And the mission is to get control of the Senate, maintain control of the House and defeat Barack Obama. That means get behind the nominee, so, yes, I’m ready to get behind the nominee.”

I'm not that big of a fan of Herman Cain.

That being said, I'm glad to see he's supporting Romney because he was so popular with a lot of conservatives last fall.

Also, it's not a "flip flop." Romney may not have been his first choice, but he is supporting Romney now that it's obvious that he will be the nominee. Even if Newt is still in the race, a continued primary season fight is pointless and will only hurt Romney. Cain's desire for Obama to be defeated is obviously greater than his desire for Newt to be the nominee.

in what world is this a flip flop? Newt is only nominally in this race. Getting behind your party's nominee when your preferred candidate loses is hardly a flip flop

Heman Cain has always respected Mitt Romney and I was actually surprised when he threw his support behind Newt, but Newt made him promises that Mitt Romney didn't so that is why. Cain endorsed Romney in the 2008 election.

Why is it a surprise? A banker supporting the bankers choice.

I have always maintained that all these "fights" between the mainstream candidates is just a dog and pony show. Their allegiances are interchangeable, their words are dishonest and their goals are the same. Of course they will support the nominee. Of course they will "forget" their differences for the "greater good" (as if there were any in the first place). The idiots who consider this news and are surprised are people who have no idea about what's going on anyway.

The entire political system, except for Ron Paul, can be clumped into one big blob of faceless, self-serving, war profiteering creature called "STATUS QUO". The whole creature needs to die.

And to think that Pizza Man was running as an "outsider" last year.

Romney has never worked a day in Washington in his life. Even the real establishment figures were much more tepid in embracing Romney than they have been in the past.

Romney is the world banking systems choice for a one world order and a Federal Reserve take over of the worlds banking system.
