We've heard complaints from both sides about the impact of third party candidates. How about a change in the presidential election process. The first election is votes only to decide the top two candidates. The top two then go into an electoral college election we currently have except that only the top two camdidates' names will be on the ballot.

So you want to take the choice away from some Americans just because you don't vote Third Party?

Huh?! The first part is giving people a choice. All candidates run UN the first election. The top two candidates of that election compete in the traditional electorial college election we currently have. If a third party candidate finishes within the top two then he/she would go on to the electorial college election like what we have now.

i think a better idea would be to force tickets with one republican and one democrat on each of them, and confuse the general public so much that they might actually vote on the issues.

Half the country doesn't vote now, throw in a runoff each time and most people who vote now wouldn't bother until the runoff. In reality third party runs have rarely had a big impact anyway.

1/2 the country does not vote because they protest the vote for evil mantra that brainwashed sheeple are harping on about.

they become apathetic because of the corruption.

eventually when they get fed up enough and come out from their apathy they will revolt if pushed too far. it wont look pretty.
when people lose everything they lose it.

just try to rob the middle and poor class for your unions

and for your ceo friends some more while sending us to fight your wars and selling our futures

neo-con and socialists beware.

a) Good luck getting that Constitutional amendment passed

b) Why should we bother passing a Constitutional amendment designed solely to protect the two major parties?

I think it should be mandatory to vote. They seem to make no big deal of forcing the American people to have a driver's license...have car insurance....wear a seatbelt...get a building permit to add on to one's property...and now, they even want to force the American people to buy health insurance. Why not make people VOTE?

I disagree on making it mandatory, but I've heard and kind of like the idea of making Election Day a public holiday to encourage more people to vote.

Making people behave like responsible citizens is hard work.
