The Southern Baptist assessment of Mormonism is quite correct and accurate, Mormons are not real Christians, but this is like arguing about whether Luke Skywalker is a real Jedi or not.

With a super majority in both the House and Senate, who needs a President, unless we want to police the world.

Unfortunately, God doesn't care what the Southern Baptists think about Mormonism. Kind of sucks, huh?

Having spent a lot of time in Nebraska, where my husband is from, I'd say the chances of Nebraksa seceding are zero to minus 10000.

Do you think its possible the Red States especially the South could declare succession and start the 2nd civil war in this country?
States that could do that include. Texas/South/North Carolina/Tennessee/Flordia/Georgia/Alabama/Mississippi/Arkansas/Virginia/Oklahoma/Kansas/Nebraska/North/South Dakota/Utah/Idaho/Montana/Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio/Arizona are all red states that could potentially join along.

Do you think this could happen in response to the ever increasing Bureacracy of Washington?
It seems like were losing our Freedoms left and right.
Now the internet could be turned off this summer etc.
You really need to focus your thoughts.

Let's stipulate, just for now, that the current polarization in our nation is stronger than it's been for a long time ..... certainly as strong as 1968, and movig in the wrong direction.

But let's also take note that this polarization is not genrating anything close to the violence of the late Sixties.

Let's take note that: yes, the inequalities in the distribution of material wealth are growing.

But the large concentration of wealth mostly represents new wealth; the product of the both the formal education and "street smarts" we all began developing once things calmed down in the early Seventies.

And most of that wealth will, after a generation or two, be in the hands of instituions and phlanthropies, anyway.

And that overall, the "safety net" is deeper, wider, and stronger.

And that, the squealing of race-baiters to the contrary, the disparity is nowhere near as starkly-drwan along racial lines as was the case in 1968.

Finally, let's take note that the United States of America is the world's foremost tested democracy, and when such a democracy finds its differences beyond resolution (as with Chechoslovakia in recent years, or Sweden/Norway over a century ago, or possibly with Quebec vs. the rest of Canada), a peaceful separation can be arranged.

But we're nowhere close to that, and we have far more to lose if it should come about.

Illinois would do just as it did in 1860...support the Union and its "favorite son" president.

If this did happen, the liberal states would be economically devastated. Not only would the conservative states instate low taxes and incentives that would attract business and commerce, but the "welfare class" would flee to the liberal states seeking free government handouts.

That's kind of what the south thought in 1860. Didn't work.
