As polls show Democrats fallng father and farther behind in their effort to alter the outcome of the Wisconsin gubernatorial election of 2008 (at least they called it that when it was a Democrat govenor being recalled in California), various high officials in the Democrat party are trippig over each other, issuing contradictory statements, and even contradicting themselves in the same speech as they try to explain away the rejection of Democrat efforts.

DNC Chairman Debbie Schultz said in a speech today that the June 5 Wisconsin recall election would not have any particular carryover to the national Presidential election in November... but a few minutes later in the same speech while begging for money, she said that the Jun 5 recall was "the first important national election". In a separate speech today on CNN, she announced that the recall election would be a "test run" for the nationwide election in November. Apparently she has not yet gotten her story straight, and isn't sure what "facts" she wants to try to trick people into believing.

CONCLUSION

Two out of three Schultzes agree: It will have a nationwide effect.

Will the recall effort fail? Looks like it. Will it spell "chaos with the Democratic Party"? Uh, no.

There is something to be said for momentum in politics. Right now neither party has it and I think they know it. I see Obama flipping on gay marriage, grandstanding on OBL and desperately trying to rework the economic numbers. All this to wake up a base that doesn't have a big issue (Iraq) this time around and perhaps regain some of the independents who have soured on Obama.

A spark from a successful Walker recall would not only give the Democrats momentum, but it could also provide them with something don't have right now, and that is something to talk about when the plane stops. Obama can't mention Obamacare because most Americans still favor its repeal. He can't talk about jobs or the economy because the economy is stagnant and real unemployment is still sky high. He could attempt to claim some credit for saving the free world from economic collapse, but that brings up spending and deficits. Don't want to go there.

I see why Democrats are so hopeful and at the same time so disappointed that their effort isn't going well. To this point, they had written off the white working class vote. A Walker recall could be quite a trophy as they try to make the case that Republicans are the enemy of working people.

And if Obamacare is struck down by the courts, it'll throw an entirely different wrench into the system.

We live in interesting times, indeed. I'm glad about that, actually.

Interesting. When it appeared that the moonbats were in the lead in WI many of the resident moonbats here on the forum were jubilantly celebrating the demise of the GOP on a national level. Now that the moonbats are losing it's: Meh......just another day.

Isn't it funny how that works?

Walker has turned that state around.

That's something that would never happen with a Democrat Governor. And the people of Wisconsin know it.

Walker has sent the state into the toilet and declared war on the middle class, why do you think the fighters for freedom have pulled off the biggest recall effort in the history of the nation?

What happened to those million plus signatures, why did they not turn out to vote?

Democrats, losing ground in Wisconsin, play down recall election

WASHINGTON — Recent polls have pointed toward a victory for Republican Gov. Scott Walker in Wisconsin’s June 5 recall election. But here’s the clearest evidence to date that national Democratic party officials believe their side is losing: Democratic officials are playing down the potential impact.

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) insisted in a television interview that a loss for the Democratic candidate in the recall, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, wouldn't have any implications for other races, such as the presidential election.
“I think, honestly, there aren’t going to be any repercussions,” Wasserman Schultz said on C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers” program. “It’s an election that’s based in Wisconsin.”

(snip)

“We put more than $250,000 into the race already,” she said, noting that she was heading for Wisconsin on Tuesday for a Barrett fundraiser. “We sent out an email this week to our more than 2 million-plus donor base from the Democratic Party, telling them that the first important national election is the June 5 election to recall Scott Walker and elect Mayor Tom Barrett, and asking our considerable donor base to contribute.”
